An applicant\u2019s primary variable to consider in crafting their rank list is whether a program meets that applicant\u2019s needs as a prospective intern. We provide below a summary description of our implementation at Brown. The full text of the APDIM Position Paper can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/higherlogicdownload.s3.amazonaws.com\/IM\/fecab58a-0e31-416b-8e56-46fc9eda5c37\/UploadedImages\/Documents\/resources\/Materials_for_Interview_PostInterview_Statement_Manuscript_Final_Website.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interviewers or program directors will only communicate with applicants following their interview at Brown to tie up \u201cloose ends\u201d \u2013 provide information in follow-up, contact information with a local researcher, etc.[<\/li>\n<p><P> \t<\/p>\n<li>Our program will not communicate with applicants in a manner that makes reference to ranking, \u201cfit\u201d, or likelihood of matching.<\/li>\n<p><P><\/p>\n<li>We discourage thank you notes or e-mails from interviewed applicants on the basis that such communication often places undue worry or expectations on students. Such communication will not routinely receive a reply.<\/li>\n<ul>\n <P>\t<\/p>\n<li>Thank you notes from applicants will <u>not<\/u> be construed by us as a violation of this policy or in any negative way whatsoever. We simply do not want applicants to feel any pressure to send such communication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><P><\/p>\n<li>We welcome contacts requesting information or clarification about the program (e.g. number of required months of ICU experience; availability of opportunities for community service, etc.). Please direct those questions to <a href=\"mailto:imrp_rih@brown.edu\">imrp_rih@brown.edu<\/a>.
